I started with a cross silhouette in the center of a square canvas. As I developed the piece, hearts began to repeat, reminding me of a rhythmic pulse. Then, what appeared to be a pendant emerged, as you can clearly see in the early linear sketching pics (posted March 31). And y’all know I love necklaces, and bracelets, and jewelry in general. So right away, I started to pull out and emphasize a cut gem design in the center. Then, as I added lines and colors, a lighthouse shown forth with beams of light radiating outward! This painting took me on quite a visual journey; I loved it in all of its phases. And I’m so glad that they all remain visible in the finished image. Whatever you find (cross, hearts, pendant, gemstones, beaming lighthouse, or something else entirely), I hope you find joy. Note to self: enjoy each version, phase, moment of your life. They all add to the complete composition!
